NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Mayor Karl Dean signed a treaty Friday morning that officially joined Nashville and Tamworth, Australia as "sister cities."

The signing ceremony was held at 10:30 a.m. at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Mayor Col Murray of Tamworth was also in attendance at the ceremony, as well as Australian native and actress Clare Bowen.

Tamworth is known as the "Country Music Capital of Australia." Every January the city hosts the Tamworth County Music Festival.

Nashville and Tamworth decided to partner together to help connect two cities that have a love and appreciation for country music.

Australian duo Mark and Jay O'Shea and singer Morgan Evans all performed at the event.

Tamworth is Nashville's seventh sister city. For more information about Sister Cities of Nashville, visit scnashville.org.
