NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police teamed up with "Mapco" to host their Giftcards for Guns exchange program in an effort to keep Nashville families safe on Saturday.

Nashvillians dropped off their firearms at St. Luke's Church on Lewis Street on Saturday in exchange for $25 giftcards.

Metro Police said they collected over 50 guns in the program.

Chief Steve Anderson said it is a good time to host the buyback, as Metro schools are out for summer break.
