The 42nd CMA Music Festival got underway Wednesday morning with the annual kick-off parade.
Country singer Kix Brooks served as this year's Grand Marshall.
The parade kicked off at 11 a.m. on Broadway from 10th to 1st avenues. Immediately following the parade, the annual block party began at Riverfront Stage.
Nashville News 2 personalities Justin Bruce, Dawn Davenport, Joe Leadingham and John Dwyer all participated in the parade.
High school students from around the city also performed as a marching band. Most of the students benefit from the CMA's program "Keep the Music Playing" through which millions dollars are donated to high school bands for instruments.
Metro police previously told Nashville's News 2 every available resource will be working CMA Music Fest.
This year's event sold out six weeks before the festival took over downtown Nashville.
