Boy meets man who saved him from drowning

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - An east Tennessee elementary school student has met again with a TVA contractor who saved him from the cold water of South Holston Lake.

The Johnson City Press reported Jonathan Clark and his mother went Tuesday to the weir dam at the lake on the Tennessee-Virginia border to see Allen Hawkins.

Jonathan was fly fishing a few weeks ago when he stepped on a rock that moved and he fell into the chilly water. His waders quickly filled with water and he started drifting downriver, but managed to cling to a tree that leaned over the stream.

Hawkins walked out of a rest room he was cleaning and saw the boy in the water. He was able to pull Jonathan in and said he was "ice cold."
