A man was electrocuted while trimming a tree in Maury County Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred behind a home in the 3000 block of Greens Mill Road around 11:30 a.m.
The man was reportedly electrocuted when the limb he was working on made contact with a power line.
The homeowner heard crew members yelling and called 911 for help.
When emergency personnel arrived, the victim was in the tree still tied to his safety harness.
"Luckily, some of his fellow workers had climbed up on their own rope and were able to quickly lower him after we arrived," Maury County Fire Captain Richard Schatz told Nashville's News 2.
"With that amount of electricity from power lines he easily could have been killed so he's definitely lucky," he explained.
The victim was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.
He has been identified as 30-year-old Stephen Kewin of Greenbrier.
Kewin is employed by Wolf Tree and was doing work for Duck River Electric.
The company released a statement Tuesday afternoon saying, "The entire Wolf Tree family is thinking of this employee as he is being treated, and we are wishing him a speedy recovery. Our primary concern is for his well-being and that of his family and coworkers."
