Police utilize new "Skycop" to boost presence at Wave Country

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police are adding extra patrols to make sure nothing spoils the fun at Nashville's Wave Country this year.

Two years ago on Memorial Day weekend, so many people showed up that the water park had to turn people away.

A scuffle eventually broke out once pool goers learned that the park had reached capacity.

Extra duty police officers were called to the park's gates to help with crowd control.

This year, Metro police are continuing to add extra officers as well as utilizing anew "Skycop".

"The blue lights are flashing. It has Metro Police on it. It lets people know that we're around the area. It also has the ability that it records and we can go back and review that recording, so it's a valuable tool for us," an officer said.

Authorities said things went smoothly on Memorial Day last year and they expect the same to be true this holiday weekend as well.
