I am sure you've seen the video of the tornadoes in the Great Plains on Sunday.
The first picture to the right shows an incredible hook echo structure of the tornado that struck Wichita, KS.
So what about Middle TN?
Our storm chances will be Tuesday late afternoon through the overnight hours, and again on Wednesday.
The Storm Prediction Center has called for a "Slight Risk" for severe storms from Nashville westward, in the 15% probability. The risk is for damaging winds, hail, and a few tornadoes.
We are expecting more storms on Wednesday, but right now SPC keeps the risk to our north. We'll update that tomorrow.
For weather geeks:
CAPE values look moderately high for Tuesday PM around 2,500-3,000 j/kg Tuesday afternoon, and in the 1,500 j/kg range overnight.
The shear values are marginal:
0-3 km SRH 50-100 m2/s2 with a sliver of 150 m2/s2 at 7pm far NW/W counties.
0-500mb bulk shear mostly 20-25 kts with some 30 kts west Middle TN during the early evening. A small sliver of 30-40 kts over Nashville 1-3am.
