NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A CD of songs written by children at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and then performed by some of country music's favorite artists was released on Tuesday.

All of the songs on the newly released album, "Everybody Has a Story" were written by a child with a life threatening illness while at Vanderbilt. Some of the young songwriters have since passed away.

Gigi Paslay's song is just one of the songs featured on the unique album.

The 15-year-old told Nashville's News 2 she participates in musical therapy at the hospital.

"I like writing music. It helps me get out my emotions because it's hard. I can't always do things like normal kids would do so writing is my fallback," Paslay, who has been battling leukemia since the age of one.

Paslay's music therapist, Jenny Plume, came up with the idea to put out an album with music written by young patients.

"One day I thought we are in Nashville, we have amazing artists here. Maybe we could get them to sing the songs and make a bigger production of it," Plume said.

With the help of Music Row recording engineer Tom Fouce, country stars such as Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Kix Brooks, Faith Hill and Alison Krauss among others, all signed up for the project.

The CD is available for purchase on Amazon, iTunes, select Barnes and Noble stores, Walmart and the hospital's gift shop for $10.

All proceeds will benefit the music therapy program at Vanderbilt.
