Tennessee will honor longtime women's basketball coach Pat Summitt with a statue.According to the Knoxville News Sentinel and ESPN, the university plans to unveil the statue this fall near its athletic facilities."It's a very important component of the larger Lake Loudon project," Tennessee's athletic director Dave Hart told the newspaper. "There's a natural embankment by Thompson-Boling Arena, and we're working with architects to find the best place for the statue."In 2012, Summitt stepped down from her coaching duties after revealing she had early-onset Alzheimer's. She now serves as the Lady Vols' coach emeritus."It's very exciting to be able to present this to the greatest coach of all time," Hart said. The University of Tennessee at Martin, located in west Tennessee and Summitt's alma mater, unveiled a statue of the legendary coach last year. The statue is not the only thing on the Knoxville campus that will carry her namesake, either. The court in Thompson-Boling Arena is dubbed "Pat Head Summitt Court."
