Clarksville statue vandalized

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Clarksville police are investigating after a statue was vandalized over the weekend.

According to police, someone took the rifle of the Doughboy Statue located at 200 Legion Street overnight Friday.

The Leaf Chronicle reported the statue was also vandalized on Thanksgiving Day in 2011.

The statue was initially constructed in 1929 to honor the city's soldiers who died in World War I.
