PIGEON FORGE (WATE) - Dolly Parton unveiled two new attractions at her Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge on Friday.
The first was a ribbon cutting at a new show she produced at Dollywood called "My People"
The production is in the newly-renovated Dreamsong Theater and showcases Dolly's early years. Some of the performers in the new show include her brother and sister.
The show opens to the public Saturday.
Dolly was also in town to introduce a new attraction to Dollywood's Splash Country.
"Can you hear us pretty good?" said Parton. "Well good. Welcome to RiverRush!"
Dolly was on hand to pull the lever and get RiverRush open for guests.
"Is everybody ready? Three, two one, here we go!" she said during the ceremony.
RiverRush is being described as a watercoaster.
"This is the most expensive attraction we've ever built," said Dollywood's Splash Country General Manager Mike Brown. "It's also the largest."
RiverRush cost $6 million to construct. It uses 12,000 gallons of water, rises to four stories, and drops 25 feet at 45 degrees.
What makes it very unusual is that it goes uphill.
"The boats actually have a metal plate in them and it's called hydromagnetic technology," explained Brown.
RiverRush is the first of its kind in Tennessee and there are only four like it in the entire nation.
The Keyes family from Sevierville was chosen to ride first.
"You go down this big hill, then you go up, and you shoot up," said rider Braxton Keyes.
"It was amazing," said rider Buddy Keyes. "It really felt like a watercoaster. It had that roller coaster feel."
Dolly says this will not be the last additions to her parks in Pigeon Forge.
"We are always going to be adding new stuff to Dollywood," she said. "Hopefully as long as I live and long after that."
Last year, Dolly announced plans for an attraction in Nashville, but the deal fell through.
We asked her about giving the proposal another try. Dolly told us she hopes to build something there, but right now there are no definite plans.
She says Nashville is like a second home and her husband's people are from that area.
