Wrong-way driver collides with truck head-on

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Two people were hospitalized after a woman got on a busy Nashville roadway in the wrong direction Wednesday morning.

The accident was reported just before 6:30 a.m. along Briley Parkway north at the exit for McGavock Pike and the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center.

Officials told Nashville's News 2 a 23-year-old woman driving a gray sedan got onto Briley Parkway in the wrong direction.

The woman collided with a red truck, head-on.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Traffic lanes were blocked while crews investigated and worked to clear the wreck. The lanes have since reopened.

The driver was not immediately charged. Police said she does not have any previous charges.
