Walmart employee cited for eating unpaid merchandise

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -

Murfreesboro police issued a Walmart employee a citation after it was discovered he had been consuming merchandise while at work without paying.

The incident was reported at the retailer located on South Rutherford Boulevard late Thursday night.

During an investigation it was discovered employee Phillip Maguffee would take and consume merchandise from packages in the store's receiving area while working.

Upon being confronted by store management, Maguffee admitted to stealing the items, which included energy drinks, protein bars and shakes, a bottle of water and Tums, among other items.

He was issued a citation for theft under $500.
