Man attacks victim with axe after argument over beer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police arrested a 57-year-old man after he allegedly hit a man in the head with an axe on Friday.

Victim Daniel Kalata told police that Jerry Sangster struck him with the axe after an argument over beer at a campsite.

Kalata was able to call police for help and was transported to Skyline Medical Center.

Police responded to the location of the incident and found Sangster in the woods with a witness.

Sangster told police that Kalata attacked him with the axe and that he disarmed Kalata and struck him in the head.

Sangster also stated that he kicked the Kalata several times until he fled the campsite.

He was taken into custody without incident and is charged with aggravated assault.
