Interstate 40 is reopen after a semi-truck driver went off the roadway early Thursday morning.
The incident occurred just after 1 a.m. along I-40 east near mile marker 212, the Fesslers Lane exit. The truck came to a rest between a guardrail and rock wall.
Police initially told Nashville's News 2 the driver possibly fell asleep at the wheel. The driver then told police he swerved to miss a bird.
Police say it's a common spot for truck drivers to swerve off the roadway. The guardrail has damage from previous truck crashes.
The blocked lanes reopened around 5:45 a.m.
No further details were immediately released.
