2 in custody after sheriff's vehicle stolen, 1 at large

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Metro police have arrested two people and are searching for a third after a sheriff's vehicle was stolen late Tuesday morning.

The incident involving the suspects was reported just before Noon at 28th Avenue and Buchanan Street.

According to authorities, the ordeal began while Davidson County deputies were assisting Metro police during a traffic stop involving the three men.

During the stop, the trio fled from their car and split up, two raced down the street and one stole the deputy's vehicle.

The suspect who took the deputy's vehicle struck Charmaine Brown's parked car.

"I didn't see anything. I was in the house, but I heard a boom, boom, boom noise and I came outside after that," Brown said.

After striking Brown's vehicle, the suspect then fled the seen on foot, and authorities began using K9 units and a helicopter to search for all three.

Police have since arrested two of the suspects in connection to the incident.

One of the men was taken into custody in Samuel Hunt's backyard, while the other was found hiding in a trash can.

"The way he apprehended him, he told him to get on the ground and if he moved he would shoot him dead," Hunt said.

No identities were immediately released.
