Clarksville man found fatally shot on Madison roadway

Metro police are investigating after a 24-year-old man with a fatal gunshot wound was found on the side of the road in Madison early Tuesday morning.

Police responded to a call for a gunshot victim just before 1 a.m. on State Highway 45, also known as Old Hickory Boulevard, not far from Myatt Drive.

Two passersby discovered the body and called 911 just as an officer was arriving to the scene.

Officers from the Madison Police Precinct said they heard gun shots around the same time the call was dispatched. They're not sure if the shots were related to the crime scene.

The Madison precinct is a few blocks away from the scene.

Upon arrival, officials pronounced the victim, identified as Joshua Henry of Clarksville, dead on the scene.

Officials told Nashville's News 2 the victim, Henry who was a convicted burglar and fugitive, was shot twice, including one shot to the head.

A portion of State Highway 45 was closed in both directions while authorities investigated. The roadway has since reopened.

Police are working to determine why Henry was in the Nashville area at the time of his murder and who he was with.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
