NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Friends, former classmates and teammates gathered at Father Ryan High School's varsity boys soccer game Wednesday night to remember Dr. Rachael Frisbie Maidens.
Maidens was allegedly shot to death by her husband, Randolph Maidens, inside their Brentwood home on Sunday night.
Maidens graduated from Father Ryan in 1996 and played soccer while she was there.
"When you have been to school with this person, you have played on the same soccer field with them before, you've watched them build a home, get married and have kids, it's just one of the small things we can do to honor somebody like this," former teammate Niki Gauthier told Nashville's News 2
"It's very bittersweet. I wish that I was here under better circumstances, but at the end of the day, this high school was my family," he continued.
Father Ryan principal Paul Davis added, "You knew that when Rachael was here, that she was going to do great things."
Maidens went on to become a popular orthodontist in Brentwood.
A prayer was said for Maidens before the game started.
Friends were also encouraged to share their memories of Maidens in a book that will eventually be given to her daughter.
