NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Thousands of runners will lace-up their shoes for the Country Music Marathon Saturday.

One Franklin runner will join the pack on the heels of the Boston Marathon tragedy.

Vance Poss finished the Boston Marathon an hour prior to the explosion. He turned on the television in his hotel room after finishing the race and saw the news.

Poss ran down to the hotel room lobby to see if what he witnessed on TV was real.

"The medical people, police force, army, national guard. People were out in the streets, it was very scary at that point," he explained.

Three people were killed and hundreds were wounded in what FBI agents are calling a calculated attack.

"Just the reality of actually being that close to something that was that big of a disaster took a while to register," said Poss.

Poss caught a flight back to Nashville last Tuesday and he isn't letting the tragedy in Boston stop him from doing what he loves.

For the 7th year, he'll run in a pace group at this weekend's event.

"Just to bond with the local runners and show America we are strong and the running community will continue to run and keep doing what we love to do," said Poss.

Poss' wife Sanom said the couple is counting their blessings. She said her husband out ran disaster.

"Thank God that you are fast," she said to her husband.

Poss said he is inspired to run at this year's Country Music Marathon and will return to Boston to run in 2014.
