Wet roads and heavy rain caused multiple accidents in and around Nashville Friday morning including a serious truck wreck.
A wreck involving a semi-truck was reported just after 2 a.m. along Interstate 40 eastbound.
According to TDOT, a semi-truck went off an embankment on I-40 east near mile marker 211, the exit for I-24 west. The truck came to a stop on Lewis Street after rolling through a guardrail.
A Hazmat team was called to the scene as a precaution.
I-40 east was blocked for over an hour and it has since been cleared.
A second incident, involving a police officer, happened just after 2 a.m. on 17th Avenue and Charlotte Avenue.
According to officials, the officer was traveling west on Charlotte Avenue passing through a yellow blinking light when a GMC Sonoma pickup truck traveling south on 17th Avenue ran the blinking red light.
The police vehicle hit the pickup in the passenger-side door.
Neither were injured in the crash, but the officer was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a precaution.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The driver of the GMC, identified as Joey Steward, was arrested for DUI.
