NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Hendersonville police describe a 16-year old boy as "remorseful" after being charged in connection with an online shooting threat against Nashville's Father Ryan High School.

The juvenile, who is a junior at fellow Catholic high school Pope John II in Hendersonville, was charged with "false reporting."

He is now in the custody of his father who accompanied him to the Hendersonville Police Department after the youngster was taken out of class Friday when school authorities were alerted.

A release from the department indicated "at this point it appears that the juvenile did not appear to have the intent or ability to follow through with the posted threat."

The shooting threat was reported to the FBI's tip line Thursday night by an unidentified individual who saw the posting on the Web site 4chan.org which some have described as "anarchist."

The tip was given to the local FBI and Metro police who along with Hendersonville police tracked the posting to a wireless network from Pope John Paul II High School.

From there the student was identified and detained at the school while he spoke with authorities.

John Paul II headmaster Faustin Weber released a statement from the school that read:

"We are distressed and saddened to learn that a student at JPII has been detained in connection with the posting of an online a threat against Father Ryan High School. Upon learning, last night, that the threat had originated with the JPII wireless network, I immediately contacted the president of Father Ryan, Jim McIntyre, to express my deepest regrets for the fear and disruption this has caused their school and to assure him of our complete cooperation in the police investigation."

"This morning our Student Life Office, with the assistance of the JPII student body, quickly uncovered the name of the student. That student was then isolated and secured to insure the safety of our entire community.  Parents were called and our Dean of Students accompanied them to the police station. JPII is a school that emphasizes love and respect for others above all things. Father Ryan is our brother school and we ache to learn that one of our communities is believed to have caused them pain.  We are fully cooperating with authorities in this investigation and will provide further updates when available."

Father Ryan High School officials decided to close the school on Friday after police alerted them of the threat.

All after school activities on and off campus for Friday and the weekend will be held as scheduled.

Classes are scheduled to resume on Monday.
