PARSONS, Tenn. -

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation searched an area near Holly Bobo's home Thursday after a dog discovered a purse believed to have belonged to the missing nursing student.

The purse was discovered about a mile from Bobo's home where she was kidnapped from on the morning of April 13, 2011.

Volunteers and family members have continued their search since her disappearance just over two years ago.

The newly found purse, which was found empty and turned inside out, is now in the TBI's possession.

Bobo's family has seen pictures of the purse, but has not seen the actual purse to confirm that it is their daughter's.

A family spokeswoman said the Bobo's have asked TBI to see the actual purse. They have decided not to comment until they get confirmation the purse belongs to Bobo.

The family has asked for prayers.

The area where the dog found the purse has been searched before by volunteers, but not by the TBI.

A portion of Myracle Town Road was blocked as officers with dogs searched the area.

Missy Spellings lives near the scene. She first saw authorities in the area Wednesday night.

"It is little bit of hope and a little bit of fear," she said. "I can only imagine how the family feels each time something is found."

Spellings said she is confident Bobo will be found safe.

"Of course we all feel and all have faith that Holly is going to be brought back to her family," Spelling said. "That is a very sweet family and a very close family."

Bobo is five feet, three inches tall and weighs 110 pounds.

She has blue eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair and was last seen wearing a pink shirt, blue jeans and black flip flops.

Her brother said he saw a man leading Bobo away from their Parson's home on the morning of April 13, 2011.

A massive search was launched and some of Bobo's items were found immediately, but Wednesday's discovery appears to be the first major clue in the case in the last several months.

There is a $250,000 reward being offered for information leading to Bobo's location.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to call the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
