Homeowner: Woman leaves cremated remains in yard

A Murfreesboro man called police after he saw a woman leave a person's cremated remains on his yard earlier this month.

According to a report in the Murfreesboro Post, the incident occurred around 1 a.m. on April 6.

The homeowner reported to police he saw a four-door white vehicle parked in front of his home and saw a young woman bent over the car's backseat.

After the woman left the scene, the resident reported to police he discovered a black box and plastic bag in his front yard.

"The [complaint] stated that he went outside to see what he believed they had left in his front yard and discovered a black box bearing a ‘Kilgore Funeral Home' label and a medium-sized plastic bag containing ashes," Officer Daniel  Parkhurst told the newspaper.

Police added that the box was labeled with a name.

The ashes have since been taken to Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
