TULLAHOMA, Tenn. -
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, along with the Coffee County Sheriff's Office, arrested a man for the murder of a McMinnville woman found dead near Summitville Cave last month.
Jimmy Jones Jr. was taken into custody on Thursday night for Connie Brown's murder.
Brown's burnt body was discovered between Summitville Road and Fire Tower road on March 9. An autopsy revealed Brown died from a gunshot wound to her chest.
Authorities learned during their investigation that Jones, who wears an electronically monitored GPS device for a prior offense, was present at the crime scene on two separate occasions for several hours.
Jones, 51, has since admitted to killing Brown. The pair reportedly did not know each other.
Jones was booked into the Coffee County jail on a $2 million bond for first degree murder.
He is scheduled to appear in court on April 22.
Jones is a convicted sex offender who was on probation prior to Brown's murder.
