A young Rutherford County couple has been arrested after vandalizing each others' belongings in the wake of a break-up.

Police responded to a domestic dispute on April 7 in the 1300 block of Journey Drive.

They learned that 20-year-old Paula Demings had recently broken up with 19-year-old Shaun White.

She told police that White cheated on her and she was angry, so she threw all of White's clothes, shoes and belongings into a ditch outside of their apartment building.

White then told police that went to the apartment to retrieve his stuff when Demings refused to speak to him or answer her door.

He told authorities that he then decided to break into her apartment while she was away and steal Demings' belongings.

White kicked the door open to her room and stole items to hold them hostage in order to get his back.

He admitted to police that he entered her room without her knowledge or consent and that he stole the items and stored them in the trunk of his car.

Both White and Demings said neither of them assaulted or threatened one another.

White was arrested for vandalism, aggravated burglary and theft.

Demings was arrested for vandalism.

Both are booked accordingly at the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.
