CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Clarksville police arrested a man early Thursday morning after he attempted to sell an officer a stolen motorcycle.

Police were initially called to a possible domestic situation in the 400 block of Kilnes Alley just before 1 a.m. when a responding officer noticed a black 2003 Honda CBR motorcycle in the driveway without a tag.

Officers on the scene mentioned to the motorcycle's owner, Michael Benjamson, how nice the bike was before the 47-year-old man offered to sell it for $900.

Upon farther investigation, police noticed the vehicle identification number had been scratched off and was not legible.

After locating the VIN number in another location, officers determined the motorcycle was stolen.

During an interview with police, Benjamson provided inconsistent information on how he gained possession of the motorcycle.

Benjamson was booked into the Montgomery County jail on a $5,000 bond for theft.
