Traffic stop leads to confiscation of heroin worth $10K

A traffic stop lead to the arrest of a Massachusetts man in possession of over $10,000 worth of heroin.

An officer pulled over a rented Ford Taurus on Tuesday afternoon for following too closely on Interstate-40 in west Nashville.

The driver, 51-year-old Anthony Gurley of Boston, told authorities that he visited Jackson, Tennessee and was now on his way back home.

The officer, a member of the Specialized Investigations Division, asked and received permission to conduct a closer inspection of Gurley's car.

He found 125 packets of heroin concealed in the upper trunk area, each of which would sell on the street for an estimated $60 t0 $80 each.

Gurley denied any knowledge of the heroin.

He was booked on a felony drug charge and has since been released on $7,500 bond.
