Tip leads Clarksville police to violent sex offender

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Clarksville police arrested a wanted violent sex offender after receiving a tip that he was at an area apartment complex.

Darnell Comauex was taken into police custody at a complex located in the 200 block of Maddox Court late Wednesday morning.

Upon their arrival, officers said the 38-year-old said he was expecting them after he saw himself featured in the news media.

Comauex was wanted by police for questioning in a sexual assault incident involving a child.

Prior to his arrest, police said he had an active warrant on file in Montgomery County for a violation of the sex offender registry. He also had active warrants out of California and New Mexico for drugs, failure to appear and violation of probation.

Comauex was taken into custody without incident.
