Clarksville police develop suspect in fatal shooting

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Police have developed a suspect in a shooting that resulted in the death of Patrice Smith, 32, of Clarksville, also known as ‘Apples'.

Smith was found by police shot, laying on the ground, between the number 26 and 27 buildings on Sunday around 3 a.m.

The shooting happened in the area of Lincoln Drive in Clarksville.

Smith was transported from the scene to Gateway Hospital where she was pronounced dead after 4 a.m.

Detectives are looking for Carl Whiteside Jr. who has a criminal homicide warrant on file for the death of Smith.

Information was discovered which linked Whiteside to being in the proximity of the area where the shooting occurred.

Police discovered that Whiteside and the victim were acquaintances.

Carl Whiteside Jr. is described as a 33-year-old black male, approximately 6 feet, 2 inches and is 260 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a red shirt and dark pants but may have possibly changed.

Whiteside should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police are aware there were additional witnesses when the shooting occurred and are asking anyone with information to contact Police.
