Man charged with statutory rape after meeting teen online
RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. -
A 46-year-old man was arrested Tuesday when he attempted to enter a girl's home after meeting her on an Internet chat room.
Harry Leschen of McEwen, Tennessee was charged with statutory rape of the young teen after he was accused of having sexual relations with her.
Police reported that the sexual relations went on for several weeks while her parents were asleep.
Authorities stated that the teen met Leschen two months ago in the Internet chat room called Favtalk.
They communicated via Skype, Favtalk and Kik, and eventually their conversations became inappropriate and included graphic images.
"From the text messaging, they met for the first time," Detective Patty Hills said, adding Leschen apparently came to her home a few weeks ago when her parents were not at home. "This developed into a more sexual relationship."
During the investigation, detectives obtained the girl's cellular telephone.
"I assumed her identity and talked with him from Friday until last night," Detective Hillis said.
Officials coordinated a plan for Leschen to meet the girl again with hidden surveillance and police waiting nearby.
According to reports, after he arrived, Leschen was apprehended when he was entering the home and authorities found a handgun.
Leschen was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where he was released after posting a $350,000 bond Wednesday evening.
He was charged with statutory rape, aggravated burglary and possession of a hand gun.
