An armed robber was seriously injured after his nine millimeter semi-automatic discharged, striking him in the leg. Police reported 18-year-old Ladon Giddens approached two men as they were getting into a vehicle in the parking lot of Preakness Apartments on Bell Road Wednesday evening. The men told police Giddens pulled a semi-automatic pistol on them and demanded their belongings. One of the victims, a 22-year-old man, surrendered $10 in cash and his cell phone. As Giddens attempted to flee the scene, he dropped his pistol causing it to fire. The bullet struck him in the right leg. Giddens was able to walk over to a waiting vehicle. Police said the victims notified them and area hospitals of the incident. Metro police was alerted when Giddens arrived at Stonecrest Medical Center in Smyrna around 6:30 p.m.He has since been transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he was last listed in stable condition.Giddens will be jailed on charges of aggravated robbery and attempted aggravated robbery upon his release from the hospital.Police also charged Kameron Coleman, 19, and Michael McLemore, 20, with facilitation of aggravated robbery. They are being held in lieu of $15,000 bond.
