NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A jury found a man guilty of murder and attempted robbery in the wake of a 2009 shooting death in Hermitage.

Angel Manual Rivera was found guilty of felony murder, attempted especially aggravated robbery and three counts of aggravated assault in Davidson County Criminal Court Wednesday afternoon.

On July 29, 2009, Rivera shot and killed his childhood friend, 23-year-old James Wade.

Wade was at home with three of his friends when Rivera showed up with two other unidentified men.

Rivera asked for Wade and once he came to the door, the two unidentified men rushed inside and rummaged through the house while Rivera held Wade and his friends at gunpoint.

Wade confronted Rivera, and Rivera shot him.

He was struck in his upper body and died shortly after being transported to the hospital.

Rivera's murder conviction carries a life sentence with a minimum of 51 years in prison.

His sentencing will be held at a later date on the additional charges.

The two other men involved have yet to be identified.
