FORT KNOX, Ky. -

A shooting resulted in the death of a civilian employee at the Fort Knox Army post in central Kentucky Wednesday evening.

Police responded to a 911 call around 5:40 p.m. and were at the scene within minutes.

Authorities reported that the incident occurred in a parking lot outside of the U.S. Army Human Resources Command headquarters.

"Special Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command are investigating a personal incident and not a random act of violence," said Chris Grey, spokesperson for the independent Army investigative agency.

Shortly after the shooting, gates were locked down at the army post as a security measure.

They were reopened an hour late, however an enhanced security posture will most likely create delays for anyone entering and exiting the post.

Police said they are interested in speaking with a black male who is described as being 5'9" tall, has black hair, brown eyes and possibly drives a black Yamaha motorcycle.

Individuals who may have information are asked to contact the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command at 502-624-6332 or Fort Knox police at 502-624-2111.
