DUI offender found passed out with child in car

Murfreesboro police have charged a man with child endangerment, among other charges after the 57-year-old was discovered passed out with a young child in his vehicle Tuesday.

According to a report in the Daily News Journal, Jeffery Hudson was taken into police custody at the intersection of Northwest Broad Street and West Northfield Boulevard.

The newspaper reported officers were initially called to the scene due to a possible intoxicated driver that had been sitting stationary at a traffic light for several minutes.

Upon their arrival, cops discovered Hudson disoriented and slumped over the wheel of his 2003 Buick SUV.

Responding officers also found a young child buckled into a car seat in the vehicle's front passenger seat.

Hudson told the responding officers that he had drank two beers and had vomited on the side of the road.

Hudson was taken into police custody after he performed poorly on a field sobriety test.

He was booked into the Rutherford County jail on a $3,500 bond for DUI and child endangerment.

The child was placed in the care of a family member following Hudson's arrest.

He is scheduled to appear in court in June.
