A Springfield High School teacher has been placed on an unpaid leave pending the outcome of an investigation into alleged behavior at a Gatlinburg hotel while chaperoning students. Schools officials reported Jared Phy was responsible for 10 students while at an FAA Convention in Gatlinburg earlier this week. According to a police report, officers were dispatched to the Glenstone Lodge on two separate occasions due to a noise complaint. Police reported upon their arrival they discovered Phy and a female chaperone both intoxicated. Phy's principal was immediately notified of the incident. A Robertson County school supervisor, along with an assistant principal was sent to Gatlinburg where they assumed responsibility for the student group. The school board is investigating the alleged incident. Disciplinary action is expected by the school district.
