Sara Evans performs for Dollar General, store announces new additions

The Dollar General Corporation started out with one family operated store nearly 75 years ago and has grown into a multi-billion dollar company which continues to expand.
"We just celebrated our 23 year of consecutive same store sales growth which means for the past 23 years our customers have been looking at us for value and convince," said Crystal Ghassemi, Public Relations Manager.
Dollar General is the nation's largest small-box discount retailer and they recently announced they will open 635 new stores and remolded or relocate 500 existing stores across the country.
"If you do the math on average we are either remodeling, opening or relocating three stores a day," Ghassemi explained.
Wednesday was Dollar General's employee appreciation day at their Goodlettsville Corporate Headquarters.
Employees were treated to a concert from Sara Evans and had a chance to meet Coach Joe Gibbs and NASCAR drivers Brian Vickers and Matt Keneseth.
The store's expansion will lead to an additional 6000 employees.
Dollar General says they need to open additional stores to best serve their customers.
"We are in constant evaluation of how we can best serve our customers needs," said Ghassemi. "We know that our customers are coming to us with in a 3 to 5 mile radius or a ten minute drive and they are coming to us for the basic needs that they need and we want to make sure we have locations in that area."
Dollar General has over 10,000 stores in 40 states.
This year will mark another milestone for the company when they open their 11,000th store.
