A duplex in Murfreesborocaught fire on Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the 300 block of Caroline Drive just after 4 p.m. to find heavy smokecoming from the attic and exiting through the roof.
Crews immediately began working from the interior of the home.
"Crews did an excellent job gaining access to the fire in the attic andputting it out," said Captain and Shift Training Officer Terry Smith.
Both units in the duplex sustained smoke, fire and water damage.
No occupants were home at the time of the fire and there were no reportedinjuries.
The occupants will be displaced and American Red Cross will be called toassist.
The Fire Marshal was called to the scene to conduct a routine investigation.
No further information has been released.
