CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -

Clarksville police have charged a man in one of two similar robberies.

The first incident was around 7 p.m. at a store in the 300 block of College Street.

In that incident, the suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded money from the clerk.

He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Detectives and a K9 unit combed the area but were unsuccessful.

Detectives reviewed surveillance video and spoke with witnesses for a suspect description.

Around 4 a.m. the next day, officers were dispatched to a robbery in the 300 block of Providence Boulevard.

In that incidence, the man entered the store, acted as if he was going to purchase something, and then approached the clerk. He then raised his shirt and displayed a handgun before fleeing with cash.

According to a news release, the suspect description was very similar in both cases.

Following a photo line, detectives developed the prime suspect in the College Street robbery as 26-year-old Joshua Dunlap.

A BB gun was located by other detectives at a residence where Dunlap frequents.

He was charged with aggravated robbery and his bond is set at $50,000.

Later Thursday afternoon, following an extensive investigation, Dunlap was also charged with the Providence Boulevard robbery.

Since he was already arrested, that charge will be given to him in jail in Montgomery County.

Dunlap was already on probation for theft of property and burglary. His arrest record dates back several years.
