NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
A serious accident that occurred on Briley Parkway Tuesday afternoon resulted in the death of one woman.
Police report that 65-year-old Paulette Utley of Madison was travelling west on Briley Parkway around 1:40 when the incident took place.
It occurred around exit 21 and caused all westbound roads to be closed for several hours.
Utley's 2009 Buick LaCrosse left the roadway, crossing two lanes of traffic, and slammed into the center retaining wall.
The cause of the accident is unknown.
Authorities reported that Utley was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died shortly after.
