NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

An investigation surrounding the arrest of a Nashville homeless man regarding child pornography lead to the subsequent arrest of a South Carolina school principal on Friday.

In late February, 34-year-old Earl Arnold was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor after recording students outside of Hume Fogg High School with his iPhone.

The community became concerned and alerted police, who conducted a consensual interview with Arnold.

Arnold permitted detectives to look at his phone and during the search, they discovered child pornography.

A further investigation of Arnold's cell phone revealed that some child porn images had been sent to and traded with other individuals, one of which was 32-year-old Darin Pearson of Rock Hill, South Carolina.

According to WSOC-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, Pearson was the assistant principal at a middle school in Rock Hill and was once teacher of the year.

He was arrested Friday following the execution of a search warrant on his home.

Pearson is charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

WSOC-TV also reports that he was put on administrative leave following the arrest and that there is no indication he acted inappropriately with any students where he taught.

Authorities in Tennessee said that the investigation regarding the trade of images from Arnold's phone is ongoing in hopes of identifying other people involved.

Arnold is being held in the Metro jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
