Rockslide, road collapse closes section of Highway 84

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. -

A rockslide and partial road collapse has closed a portion of Highway 84 in east Tennessee Monday evening.

The incident occurred between Monterey and Livingston near Woodcliff Road.

Part of the highway has collapsed and is now closed in both directions.

Trees and power lines are also down in the surrounding area.

Brandon Smith, the Public Safety Coordinator with Putnam County, urges motorists to avoid this area as emergency and TDOT crews work.

It is not known how long the road with be closed or how much of the highway is impacted.

No other information has been released.
