NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
Tennessee star Jordan McRae went cold and the Vols went down to Alabama 58-48 in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals Friday in Nashville.
McRae came in averaging 16 points a game for Tennessee, but managed just 9 against the Tide missing several big shots late.
Trevor Releford scored 14 points for Alabama. Nick Jacobs had six points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
Josh Richardson scored 16 points for Tennessee (20-12), which lost for just the second time in its last 11 games. Jarnell Stokes added 12 points and 13 rebounds.
While Alabama advances to play top seeded Florida Saturday at noon the Volunteers wait for the NCAA's selection Sunday. Most experts have Tennessee among the first four teams either "in" or "out" of the Field of 68.
