HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. -

Hendersonville police are searching for a man who posed as a magazine salesman and stole thousands of dollars from an elderly couple last week.

According to police, Brandon Brown and an unidentified young woman knocked on the Joy and Richard McDaniel's door last Thursday.

Brown and his partner claimed to be working with an agency called "Fresh Start" and Joy let them inside.

Richard told Nashville's News 2 Investigates that he was asleep at the time of the incident.

"I wouldn't have let them in the house," he said, upset about what happened.

While inside the McDaniel's home, the pair stole $3,300 in cash before fleeing the scene.

"I had 3,300 dollars in there on the cabinet and was going to take it to the bank. I mean 3,000, it was gonna pay my property taxes with it, city and county," Richard added.

Joy explained, "I feel so bad they took so much of Richard's money because we both live on social security."

Richard added that he plans on taking the matter to court once Brown is found and hopes he gets the maximum punishment.

The McDaniels have been married for 47 years and have 11 grandchildren.

Brown is wanted for theft of property over $1,000.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-573-5400.
