Vanderbilt saw a 22 point drop to two, but the Dores hung on to beat Arkansas 75-72 in round two of the SEC Tournament Thursday night in Nashville.
The defending tournament champions cam out hot from three-point range to build a big lead, they finished 12 of 28 from long distance.
Arkansas turned up the pressure on defense to make a run in the games final five minutes. Marshawn Powell's steal and lay-up made it 70-66. Moments later the Hogs had a chance to tie, but Powell could not convert on another turnover. From there Vanderbilt and Kedron Johnson put the game away at the free throw line.
Rod Odom led Vanderbilt with 20 points, Kyle Fuller had 19, Johnson finished with 13 and Dai-Jon Parker 11.
The (15-16) Commodores advance to the tournament quarterfinals to face second seeded Kentucky Friday evening at 6:30 PM.
