HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. -

A Henry County man is said to have shot his wife and daughter before turning the gun on himself Monday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the 5200 block of Foundry Hill Road just before 2 p.m.

According to reports, 72-year-old John Baxter and his wife, 66-year-old Virginia Baxter, had filed for divorce but continued to have ongoing domestic issues.

The Henry County Sheriff, Monte Belew, said they got into a verbal argument over a car title when John pulled a gun and shot Virginia.

Belew said that at that moment, the couple's 46-year-old daughter, Katherine Oloughlin, came out of the bedroom and John shot her as well.

He then turned the gun on himself, and was pronounced deceased upon the arrival of authorities.

Both women were shot multiple times.

Two firearms were used in the shooting.

Katherine was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition and was immediately put in surgery.

Virginia was transported by ambulance to Henry County Medical Center and later flown to Vanderbilt as well.

No update has been given as to their current status.
