New budget cuts could slow federal criminal justice process - WKRN, Nashville News, Nashville Weather and Sports

The Federal Public Defender's Office for Middle Tennessee said it will have to close one day a week due to budget cuts mandated by congress.

According to a report by The Tennessean, the office will be closed on Fridays from April to October.

The four day work week is due to a lack of funding in the Criminal Justice Act.

Some are concerned that more days may be cut in the future and that it would make a impact on the federal criminal justice process by making it a slower process.
