Jury reaches guilty verdict, convicts Nashville man of rape

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

A Nashville man who cut off his electronic monitor days before he was scheduled to be in court last year for raping a teenage girl has now been convicted for that crime.

Cedric Jones is accused of kidnapping and raping a female relative in March 2010.

Authorities reported that he took her to a storage facility where he raped her and held her overnight.

After the crime, Jones was out of jail on a $200,000 bond and required to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.

He cut that bracelet off just days before his trial, leading to a nationwide manhunt until he finally turned himself in three days later.

Monday afternoon a Davidson County jury found Jones guilty of three counts of aggravated rape, one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of aggravated kidnapping.

Jones will be sentenced for those charges on April 24.
