NASHVILLE, Tenn. -

Music City is bidding farewell to one of it's most influential people behind the scenes.

Buddy Hall has worked in Nashville for more than 40 years and is retiring.

His most recent job was in the permits office for Metro Public Works.

Hall has had a hand in many of the changes to downtown Nashville over the years, including the new Music City Center.

"I guess one of the things that I enjoyed the most was and that I feel really more involved in than anything else is the way downtown has changed over the last 20 [to] 25 years," said Hall.

Friday night, family and friends gathered to celebrate Hall at Honky Tonk Central downtown.
