MT. JULIET, Tenn. -
Two people were seriously injured in multi-vehicle rollover accident in Wilson County Thursday night.
The accident occurred around 9 p.m. along I-40 east between mile marker 226 and 227.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation told Nashville's News 2 three vehicles were involved in the accident. Two of those vehicles rolled over.
A preliminary investigation revealed that eastbound traffic slow due to a construction area, but an inattentive driver did not see the traffic slowing.
The inattentive driver rear-ended another vehicle, causing both vehicles to roll over.
The third vehicle was struck due the first impact.
Two individuals were injured, one with a very minor injury who refused transport by ambulance.
The second injured person sustained serious, non-lie threatening injuries and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The roadway was shutdown for about an hour while crews cleared the scene and it has since reopened.
