KNOXVILLE (WATE) - A former University of Tennessee basketball coach is accused of breaking into the Thompson-Boling Arena and stealing thousands of dollars worth of items.

UT police say Troy Wills broke into the arena early Sunday morning.

Wills was the strength and conditioning coach for the basketball team under former head coaches Buzz Peterson and Bruce Pearl.

According to a complaint, Wills is accused of using a saw to access the office of William Whitsell, an event director at UT.

He reportedly ransacked the room, taking $4,150 from Whitsell's desk and causing $750 worth of damage to the office.

Wills is now facing theft and vandalism charges.
